UBC Library opens new Conservation Space in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre

The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre (IKBLC) is now home to UBC Library’s newest specialized space dedicated to the conservation, preservation and treatment of the library’s physical materials.

UBC Library has acquired access to the digital archives of the Vancouver Sun newspaper

UBC faculty, staff and students can now access the digital archives of The Vancouver Sun newspaper from 1912 to 2010. Library users will have access to not only the articles, but to the entire published page in these fully searchable archives.

UBC Library acquires Afghan primary source databases

UBC faculty, staff and students can now access the Afghan Serials Collection (DA-ASC) Partisan Publications from the Wahdat Library as well as the Afghan Central Press digital archive, addressing in part the needs of student and faculty conducting research in Afghan Studies.

This year’s Giving Day project involves the digitization of UBC’s 1623 Shakespeare First Folio, which will provide opportunities for UBC iSchool students to hone their skills in the digitization of rare books by working in the UBC Library Digitization Centre to make the First Folio accessible to anyone, anywhere, and at any time.
