UBC Library partners with the Canadian Certificate in Digital Humanities

By Library Communications on February 21, 2024

UBC Library is pleased to announced a new partnership with the Canadian Certificate in Digital Humanities/Certificat canadien en Humanités Numériques (cc:DH/HN), an initiative that offers a certificate in Digital Humanities for people who participate in non-curricular digital humanities workshops.

Eligible workshops offered by the UBC Library Research Commons can now count towards completion of this new certificate, which launched in December 2023. The certificate is open to anyone, regardless of citizenship, country of residence, or institutional affiliation, and recognizes individuals who have taken 100 hours of eligible Digital Humanities workshops over a five-year period.

The Canadian Certificate in Digital Humanities is a joint effort that brings together partner organizations from across Canada, with funding provided by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Partnership Development Grant, and support from the Canadian Society for Digital Humanities / Société canadienne des humanités numériques (CSDH/SCHN) and the Digital Research Alliance of Canada / Alliance de recherche numérique du Canada.

Through this partnership, UBC Library joins more than 25 organizations in offering workshops that can be applied towards a Canadian Certificate in Digital Humanities.

The UBC Library Research Commons is a multidisciplinary hub that supports research endeavours and provides training in research-enabling skills. We embrace both new and traditional exploratory scholarship and provide services, software, and expertise. Our services include expertise in digital scholarship, including geospatial and data services; a digital Scholarship Lab with powerful computers, for research, experimentation, collaboration, and work with big data, consultations and workshops for UBC researchers and once UBC returns to campus, a welcoming space for projects and presentations.

This project is part of UBC Library’s strategic direction to advance research, learning and scholarship.
