As part of a new pilot project, public-access laptop docking stations have been installed at two UBC Library locations. Library users will have access to 15 stations at Koerner Library on Levels 2 and 4, and five stations in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre (IKBLC) on Level 2. The pilot is expected to run until April 2023.
Each docking station comes equipped with a universal dock that connects to a secondary monitor, keyboard and mouse. Library users can connect their own laptops to the station via USB-C or USB A/B adapter.
Docking stations at both locations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are open to all library users, however, users who need access to the library’s electronic resources will be required to login as usual on their laptop with a UBC Campus-Wide Login (CWL) or OpenAthens account.
For troubleshooting and support, check in at the Chapman Learning Commons desk, the Koerner Library circulation desk, or the Research Commons.
UBC Library is excited to offer this new, flexible workspace configuration and invites library users to share their feedback about this pilot project.
