The Learning Commons in BC showcases the transformation of traditional academic libraries to the learning commons model. The video below includes a sampling from elementary and secondary schools to post-secondary institutions – including the Chapman Learning Commons at UBC. The video helps explain how the environment and services provided in a learning commons setting is so valuable to a student’s learning experience.
This video is a collaboration of several Vancouver schools, the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at UBC, Reel Youth and the Libraries and Literacy Branch. The administrators, teacher-librarians and Learning Centre staff generously shared their wisdom, expertise and experiences with others. In addition, many exemplary teacher-librarians around the province provided inspiration for the project.
