- Promote the Library’s campus-wide data management services to support the life-cycle of research data.
- Participate in national research data initiatives.
- Promote Open Collections portal to provide centralized access to UBC’s digital objects.
- Work collaboratively with the VP Research + International and Office of Research Services to support researchers in complying with the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications for UBC research.

Contribute expertise in measuring the impact of research outputs.

- Increase campus support for big data initiatives through direct participation with the Advanced Research Computing Initiative.
- Implement DOI (Digital Object Identifier) service for faculty and researchers.

Promote leading-edge research skills through provision of space, tools, and services.

- Extend expertise and services into emerging areas (e.g., Digital Scholarship, Digital Humanities, Community-Based Research, Citizen Science).

Develop a Library culture of research to foster exemplary practices and collaboration.

- Strengthen partnership with the UBC iSchool.
- Promote and celebrate research achievements of librarians and staff.
- Increase national and international research collaborations.
