UBC Library is pleased to announce that we are continuing with four large multidisciplinary evidence-based or usage-based ebook programs. The publishers listed below have opened up access to ebook content for a specified period of time and will allow us to make selection decisions during and at the end of the agreement based on usage statistics and recommendations from faculty and librarians.
Cambridge University Press
UBC Library will have access to titles published in 2015, 2016, and 2017 from the Cambridge Online Books collection to July 2017. Subject areas covered will focus on the humanities, social sciences, and science & engineering. Over 2000 titles will be accessible, and select titles will be purchased for perpetual access at the end of the program based on usage and recommendations.
CRC Press (Taylor & Francis)
CRC Press’ multi-year model will offer access to all 2015, 2016, and 2017 ebooks in the areas of agriculture, biomedicine, engineering, environmental science, food science, life science, materials, math, medicine, and statistics through July 2017, as they become available online through their designate platform. Select titles will be purchased for perpetual access at the end of the program based on usage and recommendations.
Taylor & Francis Humanities & Social Sciences
A multi-year model for Taylor & Francis imprints in the humanities and social sciences (including Routledge, Ashgate, and Earthscan) will offer access to all content published between September 2015 through April 2017, as it becomes available through their designate platform. This program will be in place through to July 2017. Select titles will be purchased for perpetual access at the end of the program based on usage and recommendations.
Wiley
UBC Library will continue to have access to the entire collection of the Wiley Online Books catalogue. This program, providing access to all years in all disciplines (excluding Protocols, Reference Works, certain series), has been extended to December 31, 2017. The collection focuses on areas in health and physical sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. At the end of this period, UBC Library will own all ebooks that have a print publication date between September 1, 2016 and December 31, 2017, and will have the option to purchase highly used older material at a discounted price.
