Library and CTLT Collaboration Benefits Faculty

By Jessica Woolman on November 1, 2013

Recognizing the need for faculty support for course reserves and copyright as it relates to the digital classroom, UBC Library and the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) have collaborated on a “one stop shop” model for course support.

CTLT has offered Connect Drop-ins to support faculty members developing their courses in the Learning Management System (LMS). Recognizing that copyright, course reserves and Connect relate to online course development, librarians and library staff offered their time and expertise in an all-day drop-in session.

Faculty response to the event was extremely positive, identifying the benefit of having all their needs met in one space. This is the first step in a plan by the Library’s Teaching and Learning Advisory Committee in offering workshops and supports through CTLT.

The goal is to ensure library support for faculty from course development, such as research assignment development to implementation. The next drop-in is planned for January 2014.
