Parents campaign supports sophisticated study spaces

“No one ever graduated from a library, but no one ever graduated without one.” Although the origin of the quote is lost, it’s a favorite for Ingrid Parent, University Librarian. “We do not have alumni per se, but in fact the whole university is our current user and future alumni.”

For students today, UBC Library is more than a quiet place to study. These bright and wide open spaces offer a technology rich learning environment that facilitates knowledge exploration and discovery. To succeed, students need access to up-to-date information and experts worldwide. They need sophisticated multimedia tools to create, edit, display, and share information with others.

“We are probably one of the busiest buildings on campus,” says Simon Neame, Director of the Irving K. Barber Centre. “During an academic term, we typically have about a quarter of a million visitors every month.”
