The following message was released to UBC Library staff and to the Faculty of Medicine faculty and staff through their e-newsletter, The Link.
Thank you to UBC faculty and students who took the time to complete a user survey that was released in August. The survey closed on August 19 and the results are currently being reviewed by the Library and the working group, which is comprised of Library and Faculty of Medicine representatives. Focus groups were also conducted by the Faculty of Medicine’s Evaluation Studies last month. Both the survey results and the focus group findings will be used to shape the model for library services at the hospital library sites, particularly at St. Paul’s Library and Hamber Library (at Children and Women’s).
As well, the Library is developing a vision and plan for an integrated sciences library at Woodward Library to support the university’s research precinct, located on south campus. Library staff will be developing a vision and plan for collections, services and space beginning this fall and determining how best to provide research support to faculties and students. Further updates on this initiative will be shared in subsequent issues of The Link.
